Our 2017 Wrap Up Yes, we know. Another year, no posts, so busy, so sorry,…
Everything is Happening
ALL AT ONCE! We are doing some serious moving and shaking here at Show Works… figuratively obviously… but, literally too. Mostly to the Lego Song which is playing on a loop in our minds, after our daily show for Hamleys Toys Store at the V&A Amphitheatre, where we play musical bumps with the Hamleys Bears and get our groove on to the Lego Theme Song: Everything is Awesome. At any point during the day someone in the office will be singing something to do with being awesome and loving each other. It’s awesome. We love each other. We’re living the dream. (The one where you go on stage in only your underwear – luckily enrobed in a giant furry bear suits!) Click play and have a head bop along while you read what we have been up to of late…
DIRECT AXIS 20th BIRTHDAY
DirectAxis is celebrating its 20 year anniversary this October. Show Works was proud to be part of the fantastic Gala Dinner hosted to celebrate this special occasion. Held in the ballroom at the CTICC, VIP guests – including long-serving staff members and clients – were treated to night to remember, including the unusual and spectacular Cellosphereon on arrival, charismatic KFM DJ, Sipumziwe Lucwaba as host for the evening, and CODA and DJ LuvCHild providing vibey entertainment that got people on the dancefloor. The highlight of the evening was undeniably the ‘surprise’ act, Arias Anonymous – who created much calamity by ‘interrupting’ proceedings with a sing-off between the Head Chef, Maitre D and waiters, before eventually revealing that these were ‘planted’ performers, and not actually the staff of the CTICC, much to the astonishment and delight of guests!
The birthday celebrations enjoyed a further roll-out on Monday 4 October, with a lively band of Cape Minstrels welcoming employees to work with a good old Happy Birthday song and dance, outside the DirectAxis Head Office.
SPUR SOARING EAGLE
Our beloved Spur Soaring Eagle has been making appearances all over this month. He supported the Spur Schools MTB League and cheered on the young riders, and headed over to a Secret Tribe Cook Off to sample the delicious wares produced by his young friends.
HAMLEYS – BRINGING TOYS TO LIFE
Every day of the school holidays, the V&A Waterfront amphitheatre is alive with activity, as the Hamleys‘ Ringmaster takes to the stage to entertain and delight the audience. Along with his friends Hamley and Hattie Bear, he leads the children in a few rounds of musical bumps and hands out VIP passes allowing them to have exclusive meet and greet opportunities with the Bears after the show.
And, coming up next week….
PANAROTTIS MASTER PIZZA CHALLENGE
Come down to Canal Walk Centre Court this Saturday, 10 October, for the second annual Panarottis Master Pizza Challenge, where 7 national contestants will create and serve their delicious pizzas to the judges and audience, in the hopes of being named the winner. There will be a full day of activities for families, including delicious pizza to eat, games to play and prizes to be won, as well as a fully-staffed kids zone offering crafts, face-painting, colouring in and endless, pizza-fueled fun.
TLC NEXT GREAT PRESENTER SEARCH
Next week is our BIG TLC WEEK that we have been working towards, dreaming and agonisizing about, and looking forward to for the past few months. It is finally the TLC Bootcamp where the Top 12 semi-finalists in the TLC Next Great Presenter Search will have the opportunity to prove that they are the perfect fit for Africa’s #1 lifestyle channel. We have put together and are managing the three-day bootcamp in Johannesburg where semi-finalists will attend various mentorship sessions hosted by experts in the industry. Watch below to meet the semi-finalists and hear what it’s all about 🙂
And then, finally, when all is said and done, Lisa will have a baby. We really really hope it will be when all is said and done, and not while we’re busy saying and doing it!
